From a very early age Wesley Morgan enjoyed the fantastic stories told to him by his family. The stories were always of a traditional nature and always exciting. Words were a small part of these stories as much more detail could be obtained from the paintings.
This was the inspiration behind the artist we see today. Wesley, now 24, has been painting these stories since childhood and derives great pleasure and satisfaction from painting Aboriginal Art for the stories they tell. Using traditional earth colours the stories (pictures) are painted on canvas using brushes, sponges and a dotter.
Along with canvas paintings Wesley also paints various craft pieces including vases and the didgereedoo. Wesley Morgan comes from the Wiradjuri Tribe which is situated in the Riverina in NSW and hopes you enjoy his paintings as much as he does.
The Wiradjuri people were known as the people of the three rivers: the Wambool (now known as the Macquarie River), the Kalari (the Lachlan River, from which the electorate takes its name) and the Murrumbidjeri (the Murrumbidgee River).
Wiradjuri country is the largest in NSW, stretching from the eastern boundary of the Great Dividing Range. Drawing a line from the present towns of Hay and Nyngan approximates the western boundary. While Gunnedah and Albury mark the northern and southern boundaries of Wiradjuri country.
